I usually go around my map and ask anyone who's not in a federation to join us, and tell him/her the benefits.

Just my two cents....
In the past when I have been in large, active feds, branches were used for military purposes. A central command branch would consist of the Main countries of each member. This is because they are secured on LU and can't be lost in war. Other branches are developed by location so that members can share defensive supports in the case of war. If we decided to have a recruitment team to recruit new players, we may establish a "newbie" branch where people start off. They have to earn a spot on the central command to become full members. We can establish those criteria as a fed.
For the fed to be most effective, members should share defensive support and should be expected to sign the war treaty with at least one of their countries. The war treaty states that if a country in the fed is declared on, our country will automatically declare war back. It is not necessary (or even advisable) for every country to sign this, but we should each have at least 1 that does so that anyone who attacks us gets back multiple war decs.

Very wise, what would be the requirements? We are starting another federation as of now but it is a newb fed as well, just because this federation is full.

We would have to decide what the requirements are. It depends on the goals of the fed. It could be military or economic or a combination of the two. Some common requirements are full membership to the game, a specific War Level and/or Game Level achievement, a certain number of countries, a certain population total, an amount of time since starting the game and showing active play....

Would You like to be in charge of these requirments. I like secured countries secured in economics and that country if done correctly can support two military slaves. Each member having economic security in there secured country and two war countries. We would be well off in economics and protection.

I can certainly help with training new players. I think the fed should decide as a body what we want our membership requirements to be. I don't know how many members we have now. Our requirements are likely to be determined by our goals as a fed.

I say let anyone active join, and attempt to train them here in the forum, then they can move to certain federations?

You know, Discord would be handy here. We could create the actual channel and then the subchannels like Upsilon and so on. And then make smaller channels for them. Basically USSR>Upsilon etc>General/Help/Announcements and so on. I find Discord to be easy, since it is Skype and Teamspeak in one complete with voice chats, bot support, easy to use on browser and installed client and the service keeps all the messages, so if you announce something, people who were offline at the time would still see it. Forever.

Nod. Geographic is a great bet. That way you don't have slave states or fed mates out in the cold. as we fill, split 3 or so countries off in the same region, so they can continue to provide air support to each other.
